Post Race Report-2025 Mid Ohio
The hot and slick Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was the site for round six of the 2025 Cube3 Architecture TA2 series. It was a weekend of battling track conditions, as near record high temps produced a slick racing surface and presented challenges with figuring out car setup.
The race began under very hot conditions, and Phillips was able to settle in after a clean start. The goal was to manage the tires in the heat for the beginning part of the race and hopefully be able to push towards the end of the 100-mile race. There were several full course caution flags throughout the race, but on the final restart with around 7 laps remaining Cale found himself 3rd in Pro/Am and 10th overall. The final laps turned into quite the battle between the top 3 runners in the Pro/Am class, and the three cars even found themselves three wide coming out of turn 9 on the final lap. When Cale took the checkered flag three turns later, the result was a 3rd place finish in Pro/Am and 11th overall. Another podium finish brings the tally to three podiums in four races so far this season, and he looks to keep carrying this momentum for the quick turnaround at Road America this coming weekend.
“Well, that was one of the most intense last laps I have had in a while. I was really trying to just settle into a rhythm after each restart and try to take care of the car. I knew with the heat that the track would be slick, and there would be plenty of mistakes made throughout the race. I just wanted to keep the car clean and be able to push towards the end if I needed to. On the last lap Jared, Keith and I were all right there, and for a second, I thought I might have a shot for the win when they each made mistakes between turn 5 and 9. I am happy with the 3rd place, and we are showing we can consistently be on the podium in Pro/Am. I am looking forward to Road America next week, it will be my first time getting to race there.”
CP Racing’s next race will be in Trans Am TA2 at Road America for the Trans Am SpeedTour event. That race will be this coming Sunday, June 29th at 1pm CST.
