Post Race Report-2025 VIR

At America’s first true “motorsport resort,” Virginia International Raceway hosted the ninth round of the 2025 Cube3 Architecture TA2 series.  The 3.2-mile track, known for its uphill esses and challenging elevation, provided great weather and tight racing at our home track.

Two test sessions on Thursday allowed the team to get the car dialed in, after facing a couple electrical issues.  Friday provided one more practice and then it was onto qualifying as the sun was setting on Friday evening.  Cale was able to gain time in each session, even as the track conditions got more challenging in the hot sun.  Once qualifying was complete, Phillips found himself with the best result of the season, the 14th overall starting spot and 3rd in Pro/Am.

By race time midday Saturday, the sun was shining, and track temps were up.  A bit of a chaotic turn one on the start allowed Cale to drive around the outside of a few cars through turns three and four, advancing a few spots quickly.  In a race filled with five full course cautions, restarts became the name of the game.  Cale was able to execute on the final two restarts, maintaining his 2nd spot in Pro/Am and found himself inside the top 10 overall.  That is how he crossed the finish line, securing another podium result on the 2025 season.

“That was an exciting race.  I had some great battles throughout different parts of the race, and I am glad I was able to keep the car clean.  I felt like we would have a great shot at a win here but pleased with 2nd place and being in the top 10 overall.  It is always great to have a good run at your home track, and thanks to the Nitro Motorsports guys for preparing another fast car.  With Pro/Am only counting your top 9 races for the points, we are sitting in a good spot in the standings.  Hopefully we can keep the momentum going when we visit Barber next month for the first time.”
